How Healthy Foods Help to Lose Weight
Sareta is a 25-yr. old part time make up artist and full time mom. Her story is about the first 14lbs she lost with Cook Yourself Thin. Here, in her own words, she tells how she did it. how the weight loss has affected her life and how she plans to continue.
Weight Ups and Downs Before CYT
I gained loads of weight whilst I was pregnant. My son is now two, so I couldn’t really keep on blaming the baby weight.
I am a self confessed comfort eater, so if I was happy I’d eat, annoyed I’d eat- so I couldn’t win!
I had a guilt obsession with leaving food. I had to eat everything, even if my 2-year-old left food on his plate I’d have to eat it to stop the guilt!
I joined a gym but carried on eating takeout etc. It didn’t really do anything to help weight loss, so I just stopped going.
I never weighed myself at my biggest. I was far too scared!
Motivation to lose Weight
I enjoy dressing up but I found it increasingly hard to find clothes from stores that I would normally go to. I started buying clothes online, which was a bit of a gamble but that meant I didn’t get annoyed when I found something really nice and they didn’t have my size.
I was really unhappy in my marriage; things just weren’t working out and it ended back in Oct 07. I was going out and more. More of my friends had cameras on nights out and I kept on seeing more and more horrible pics of myself. The final point was New Years Eve 07. AGAIN I thought I looked great that night. When the pics came out I was so upset. My face looked pudgy. I looked big and really wanted to do something about it.
How CYT helps
I was completely amazed by the concept of CYT! When cooking I never thought about what I was putting in the dish. If an ingredient tasted nice I’d put it in, CYT has helped me to look at what I am actually putting in meals and to eat the correct sized portions.
I love the fact I know how many calories I should consume in order to lose weight. It makes me more aware of what I’m putting in my mouth!
Changes I’ve Made
I am eating more vegetables and fruit and also trying new things, which I’ve never even heard of before. My 2-year-old hasn’t noticed but I’m glad to have started before he was aware of the new healthy food.
My son and I have regular dance sessions to keep us active. MTV is a good channel. We dance along to hot video babes. It’s very motivating.
It was difficult at first to eat less especially as I was overeating in the first place. My portion sizes were huge. It took probably a week to train myself not to eat after a certain time and not to snack. I’m really used to it now. It just seems normal.
The difference losing weight has made
I have lost over a stone since Jan and I feel great!
I’ve had so many compliments and I have clothes in my closet I haven’t been able to wear for ages.
Although I still have a little weight to lose. I’m loving my new size and I’m still in the right mindset to get there.
I’ve even tried on my old bikinis and I think I’d be able to get away with wearing them if I were to go on holiday tomorrow! I’m going to wait and treat myself to some new ones!
I know I am healthier and happier!
Sareta’s Tips
- Measure everything you are putting in any dish!
- Think of why you’re eating - Like fuel rather than it tastes nice or I’m bored.
- Stay positive and think of all the things you’ll be able to do - get into that wedding dress, go on that holiday - look amazing at the event coming up.
- Everyone should have his or her own goal and as long as you’re healthy as well as happy that is most definitely the be all and end all.
